The Group for Education in Museums conference was held this year a short drive away from the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. Eleven staff from the SCVA visited the conference and presented a wide ranging talk about the Basketry: making human nature exhibition and the research project behind it.

They spoke about the methods of working on such a large project, the successful collaborations that working on this scale required, and presented a thorough overview of the project as a whole.

After the presentation the floor was opened up to discuss selected projects and problems faced by the attendees. A wide range of practical, humorous and useful ideas were generated to arouse interest in a room full of unloved landscape paintings. The discussion then turned to the technical problems of creating an underground museum space in a disused coal mine.
